Tobias Reittinger researches how digital interfaces and incentive mechanisms influence user decisions, with a focus on digital nudges and human-centred cybersecurity. He studied Management Information Systems at the University of Regensburg. His research includes work published at ACM CHI and USENIX SOUPS, and a paper listed among the accepted papers at the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy 2026.

For Unfair Trading Australia, he brings this research perspective to explanations of consumer journeys, interface evidence and the distinction between Australian statutory tests and implementation questions.

Research perspective

Understanding a decision means examining the options, defaults, timing and consequences that a person encounters. Empirical research can help test explanations about behaviour. Legal analysis still requires the applicable rule, its scope and evidence of each element.
